May is "Be Kind to Animals" Month
Paws what you’re doing — it’s time to show some love to goats and geese and cows and cats and dogs and donkeys and . . . you get the idea.

Whether they purr, peep, oink, or moo, animals of every kind have long shared our stories, our homes, and our hearts. This “Be Kind to Animals” May, we’re celebrating the quiet bonds we share — not just with pets, but with all creatures great and small."
Here are 11 ways you can be kinder to animals:
Choose cruelty-free products
Look for certified cruelty-free logos when buying cosmetics or cleaning supplies.Eat more plant-based meals
Every meatless meal helps reduce demand for factory farming.Support animal sanctuaries & rescues
Follow, donate, share — rescues and sanctuaries rely on our contributions, especially now with funding cuts to everyone trying to do something good in the US. My favorite animal welfare nonprofit is Indraloka.Adopt, don’t shop
Shelters are full of animals waiting for loving homes.Teach kids and grandkids compassion early
Read books about animal feelings and visit sanctuaries together.Speak up when you see cruelty
Reporting abuse can save lives — your voice matters.Buy from ethical farms (if you eat animal products)
Choose local, small-scale, or certified humane when possible. But, really, there’s no such thing as humane harvesting and killing of animals.Support feral cat populations
Contribute to Trap, Neuter, and Release efforts. Ensure cats have access to food and water. Neutered and spayed feral cats are often assets to their community. They help reduce rodent and other invasive species populations.
Create a wildlife-friendly backyard
Plant native flowers, avoid pesticides, and leave water out for birds and bees.Drive mindfully in rural areas
Slow down — animals cross roads too!Be kind to insects & small creatures
Every living being plays a part in the ecosystem. Even bugs deserve gentle treatment.
